Bio

The story of Liv'in'Proof goes back to 1996 when two young people, Michelle and Chris, met in Grenoble. Very soon they fell in love with each other and discovered they had a shared passion for music.

During the following years they performed from time to time as a duo in different churches, for the pleasure of making music but also that of sharing their songs and what inspires them.

In 2002, with some British friends, they formed the group Sola, and then in 2004, Chris and his friend Mike formed the duo Last Chance. Then in 2008 Michelle and Chris decided to start developping their duo under the name Everlight's Keep. Shortly afterwards they felt the need to express their music in the context of a more complete band, and they called on friends Karim and Michel to join them on bass guitar and drums to create a new formation.

But they continued to perform as a duo, and still under the name of Everlight's Keep, mainly palying in smaller, more intimate venues, until 2013 when Michelle and Chris decided to keep this name for the group, and look for a new name for the duo. And hence, Liv'in'Proof was born!

The duo's music, and also the group's, is mainly original compositions, and their musical inspiration comes from pretty much anywhere . . . rock, blues, pop, country, classical. For the lyrics, they are predominately inspired by their own life experiences, their faith, their questions, and what they see around them. At a live performance they add a few cover songs from artists such as Muse, Jace Everett, Gérald de Palmas, Hoobastank, Dany Brillant, Joan Jett and the Blackhearts, The Beatles, Madonna, Joan Osborne, Bob Dylan, etc. all of which makes for a varied and diverse programme with a mix of songs in English and French.

The duo Liv'in'Proof can easilly adapt itself to different places and situations with it's acoustic style, based mainly around the guitar, keyboard, and voices; this includes 'house-concerts', church concerts, testimony evenings, cabarets, as well as more traditional concerts in bars and restaurants. The group Everlight's Keep is also available for evenings, concerts and events, particularly when these require the more complete sound of a full band.

As well as these two formations, Michelle and Chris, as chorist and choir director, are also involved in the choir 's[i]nglish', based in Château-Gontier, which has the particularity of singing only in English. Effectively, the choir aims to be a relaxed and fun means of practising and developing English language skills, for those who so desire, hence the name (Sing English).

Because of this, all the songs chosen have English lyrics, although the directions for choir are given in French. Musically the choir takes on various styles, including modern and classic pop/rock songs such as 'House of the Rising Sun' by The Animals, 'Man in the Mirror' by Michael Jackson, 'Firework' by Katy Perry, 'Blowin' in the Wind' by Bob Dylan; but also includes traditional songs, as well as music from the classical repertoire such as Vaughan Williams and particularly Handel, as the choir was originally formed in 2012 to perform an adaptation of The Messiah called 'My Messiah'.

The choir is open to anyone, regardless of singing ability or English language ability, and several British people are part of the choir, which gives excellent opportunities to really pratcise speaking English. Rehearsals take place Friday evenings from 8 pm to 10pm in Château-Gontier. The choir consists of around twenty members and is also available for eveings and events.
